Summer is just around the corner, and we know it: finding the perfect swimsuit is a real headache. So, we've put together a quick guide to help you find THE swimsuit that's right for your body shape. Because feeling good in your swimsuit is the key to a relaxed, stress-free vacation.
1 - Know your body shape.
Knowing your body shape helps to rebalance the body as a whole in order to approach shapes considered harmonious.
- X-shape: The shoulders and hips are proportional, the waist is defined. This is the shape that our eyes consider the most harmonious.
- Morphology A: The hips are wider than the shoulders, the waist is not marked.
- V morphology: The shoulders are wider than the hips, the waist may or may not be marked.
- H morphology: The shoulders and hips are proportional, the waist is not marked.
So, to know your body shape, it's important to compare the width of your shoulders to that of your hips. Take a long rope and draw a straight line from your shoulders to your hips. You'll then be able to see if one part is narrower than another and if your waist is defined.
2- The ideal swimsuit for each body type.
Here are the tips to follow for each body type:
- The X-shape: Good news, you can wear whatever you want. A maxi neckline, high-cut panties to lengthen your legs... choose what you want to highlight. But be careful not to undo this natural balance.
- Body type A: Lengthen your silhouette and draw attention to your chest or legs. For the top, opt for a push-up, bandeau, triangle, patterned... anything that will add volume to your chest. For the bottom, go for simple, low-cut shapes that will slim and lengthen your hips.
- The V-shape: Draw the eye to the lower body and soften the shoulders. For the top, dare to wear a deep V-neckline to reduce the width of the shoulders. For the bottom,
Choose low-rise briefs or boyshorts that will give you the impression of a butt. Play with frills, ruffles, and bows to add volume to your hips.
- The H body shape: Slim your waist and reshape your curves. For the top, add volume with a push-up bra, a balconette bra, or a triangle bra. A model tied at the neck will break up the "rectangle" side of the silhouette. Dare to wear ruffles to give relief to your chest. For the bottom, choose high-waisted panties to accentuate your waist. In addition, knots on the side will add volume to the hips.
In conclusion, knowing your body shape is a real asset when choosing a piece with little coverage, such as a swimsuit. But the most important thing is to choose a model that you like and in which you feel comfortable.
